Eunice KIM

Ayano (Kumiko Tsunashima).JPG

Seoul-based artist Eunice Kim has been honing her skills in abstract painting for a few years. Originally an educator, she is focused on creating bold colorful work showcasing the awakening of self-completion and unbinding. She pursues the congruence of her reason and emotion through intense colors and attempts to advance into a life of a new era that has no boundaries. At the upcoming Paris Fair, she intends to use her uniquely bright colors to inject vitality and bring comfort especially to all those who are suffering from COVID fatigue.

I started art at a late age. Unexpectedly, the process of my work became a time for me to meditate. What a wonderful connection this turned out to be! I was able to break from my previous identity framed in specific traditions, customs, religion, and society, and to awaken and embrace my new self. The screens projected in meditation sometimes sway peacefully like cotton candy clouds floating through trees in my childhood, and sometimes explode when pecked by one of life's snags thus awakening the hidden ferocity.

I hope viewers can see themselves through my work. When you look at yourself properly, everything you knew yesterday comes to life in a new and different way. Thus I strive not to repeat the same patterns. I'm looking for ways to be free every day, and I'm excitedly transferring them onto the canvas.
