Originally from Austria, I started my long creative journey in Sri Lanka in the nineties. As a self-taught artist I kept on painting and travelling for some years until I found in Mexico my inspiring home base.
The visual arts fascinate me, like the possibility of screaming without making a sound, the possibility of liberation and the realization of being on an artistic quest.
The majority of my images are born out of an automatic painting technique. (Automatism, refers to creating art without conscious thought, accessing material from the unconscious mind). During my symbolic period, I painted with water colors and crayons on paper, followed by a long fascination with oils on canvas. A lot of my personal soul searching themes, dream-like realities and travel impressions were worked through in this period.
The colorDrops series mark the beginning of my abstract works mixing oils, acrylics & tints. This period also includes some socio-political pieces about liberty, multiculturalism and ecocide, openening up questions about the artist’s role as a moral compass.
