I am a visual artist working primarily with acrylic on paper or canvas. My work is influenced by the cultural and emotional significance of colour and imagery, including its effect on our mood and the hopeful act of painting.
My current paintings focus on nature, emulating both natural environments and figurative art. I aim to bring emotion and atmosphere into the work through the colour palettes and titling, in order to communicate the moment of seeing, from contemplative views over airy hilltops, to joyous encounters with freshly picked spring flowers and the pleasure of standing in quiet fields lit by moonlight.
My work has dynamic compositional attributes, at times filling the frame with closely cropped exuberance and, in other works, leaving negative space to offset the poignant beauty of the painted subject.
I draw on my experiences of growing up in Romania and many years of itinerant life working in different cities before I came to settle in my new home in France. This much more settled situation is influencing my work, moving from troubled subject matter to more positive content and a powerful feminine energy. I take strength and inspiration from adapting to my new culture and environment, channeling this into the development of my practice.
